The PHILIPPINES-JAPAN INVITATIONAL KARATEDO CHAMPIONSHIPS will be held at the Music Hall of the SM Mall of Asia on 23-24 February 2008. This is an invitational age-group karate tournament to be participated in by outstanding age-group competitors from the Philippines and Japan organized by Japan and Philippines AAK. The Japanese delegation is headed by former RP Team national coach SHIN TSUKII of Gojukai and AAK Japan. Tsukii Sensei is now the most famous and sought after karate instructor in Japan and featured in all issues of the magazine, JKF Fan, the official publication of the JAPAN KARATE FEDERATION. He has also produced several instructional tapes now being used by the Japanese national team. The other groups in the Japanese delegation are: SHINBUKAN and TEIKYO HIGH SCHOOL headed by SOFUE TOSHIHISA; SEITOKUKAI under MITANI KASUYA and the JAPAN KARATE CENTER of TANIGUCHI PATRICIA. Also joining the group are karate instructors TOMITA MASAAKI, SEKIKAWA HIROMITSU and KAMOGAWA NAOTO. Among the notable participants from Japan are: TSUKII KOJIRO, 2002 JKF All Japan Age Group Bronze medalist and MVP of the 2007 Ozawa Cup in Las Vegas, USA; MITSUZUKA KEIJI, MVP of 2006 All Japan tournament; SAITO SEIYA, champion in the 2007 All Japan Age Group tournament; KITAI SHUN, Champion in 2006-2007 JKF All Japan Age Group Champion. Among the AAK players to look out for are: NORMAN MONTALVO, 2007 11th Asia Pacific Shitoryu Karatedo Championships Gold Medalist; RAISSA VELASQUEZ, 2007 4th Asia Pacific Gojujkai Karatedo Championships Gold Medalist; ANA ECATERINA TAN, 2006 5th Shitoryu Karatedo World Championships;; ANA KARMINA CIFRA, 2006 5th Shitoryu Karatedo World Championships; consistent international medalists REBECCA CYRIL TORRES and GERARDO RODRIGO ANONAS. Aside from the host ASSOCIATION FOR THE ADVANCEMENT OF KARATEDO (AAK) PHILIPPINES, the following organizations have joined the Philippine delegation: ACHIEVERS KARATE OF LAGUNA under Elmer Sebastian; ASKA of Cavite under Bernard Albarina; GOLDEN STRIKERS under Benny Rodriguez; JKA NCR under Vic Luna; USKA under Vic Laxamana; PKL under Dennis Aquino; PKL MALABON under Dante Aquino; PKL QUEZON under Ramil Abragon; SSK ZAMBOANGA TEAM under Otto Antao; AAK BATANGAS under Germie Lopez, AAK DAVAO under Rommel Tan; AAK-SKO MANDAUE CITY under Jess Paredes. The championships consists of Kata and Kumite in various age-groups among boys and girls from six (6) years old up to Seniors. Latest World Karate Federation and KOI Rules of Competition for age groupers will be applied.
